What We Know....

After many long years what we know about our 2nd great-grandfather, John L. Moore, is still very little. He married Mary Emma A. Brown in Coosa County, Alabama on the 24th of November, 1880. At the time Emma Brown was under age so her parents, John Brown and Arminda (Ford) Terrell wrote their consent to the marriage at the bottom of the license. Mr. S. J. Darby posted bond. Emma's uncle, R. B. Betts, was a witness for the couple. Prior to the marriage of John and Emma, there is a John Moore listed on the 1880 census living just down the street from the Brown family in Brookseville, Coosa County, Alabama. We have supposed this John Moore to be our, since the likelihood is great. He is living with the family of Asa Carter and Margaret Emmeline Moore, and is listed as a "laborer."

John and Emma (Brown) Moore had two children: Lula Moore, born 25 November 1881 in Coosa County, Alabama, and William Edward Moore born 6 September 1884 in Schley, Coosa County, Alabama.
